Punta Gorda Glass Block Installer

Glass Block Installation by Gordon Forsyth

I’ve been working in masonry for more than 35 years, and glass block installation is one of the many types of masonry work I’ve done throughout Southwest Florida.

Over the years, I’ve installed glass block for bathrooms, showers, windows, exterior walls, and other areas where homeowners want to bring in natural light while still maintaining privacy.

When I install glass block, I pay close attention to the details. I start with a proper layout and make sure the opening is prepared correctly before I begin laying the blocks. Keeping each block straight, level, and properly aligned is important for getting a clean, professional-looking finished installation.

I take pride in doing the work myself and making sure the finished glass block installation is built properly from the beginning.

Benefits of Glass Block

Privacy – Glass block allows natural light to enter while obscuring the view, making it an excellent choice for bathroom windows, shower walls, and lanai privacy walls.

Natural Light – Translucent glass blocks brighten a space with natural light while maintaining privacy without the need for traditional window coverings.

Durability – Glass block is a durable, long-lasting masonry material that holds up well in humid and moisture-prone environments.

Low Maintenance – Glass block requires very little maintenance and does not need to be painted, stained, or refinished like many other wall and privacy materials.

Ideal for Wet Areas – Glass block is well suited for bathrooms and showers because it is resistant to moisture and can provide both privacy and natural light when properly installed.

Great for Florida Homes – Glass block is a popular option in Southwest Florida for creating private spaces while still allowing natural light into bathrooms, lanais, and other areas of the home.

Distinctive Appearance – Glass block adds a timeless architectural look that can make a bathroom, shower, lanai, or exterior wall stand out from conventional windows and solid walls.

Punta Gorda Glass Block      Privacy Wall

For this Punta Gorda home, we installed a large glass block wall along the back lanai to create greater privacy from the neighboring property while still allowing plenty of natural light into the living space. The glass block provides a visual barrier without making the lanai feel closed in or dark. It also helps reduce the amount of sound coming from the nearby pool equipment, creating a more comfortable and private outdoor living area. The finished wall adds both function and a distinctive architectural look to the lanai while complementing the surrounding masonry and interior finishes.

Punta Gorda Glass Block Shower Wall

For this Punta Gorda bathroom, we built a custom glass block shower wall to help contain water splash while maintaining an open, spacious feel. The glass blocks create a partial barrier between the shower and the rest of the bathroom without closing off the shower with a traditional solid wall or glass door. Their textured surface also provides privacy while allowing light to pass through and brighten the shower area. The curved end and carefully aligned glass blocks give the wall a clean, finished appearance while adding a distinctive architectural feature to the bathroom.

        Glass Block Entry Wall

For this project, we built a custom glass block entry wall to create a distinctive separation between the entryway and the adjoining living space. The glass blocks allow natural light to pass through while providing privacy and defining the space without making it feel closed off. Each block was carefully laid and aligned to create a clean, uniform pattern from floor to ceiling. The finished wall adds a classic architectural touch and serves as both a functional divider and an eye-catching feature of the home.
